Not every breast lump is cancerous. Many lumps are benign conditions such as cysts or fibroadenomas. However, any lump should always be checked by a healthcare professional to rule out cancer and ensure proper care.
Myth 3: Breast Cancer Only Affects Older Women
Although risk increases with age, young women can also be diagnosed with breast cancer. Lifestyle factors, genetics, and family history play a role. That’s why awareness, prevention, and screening matter at every age.
Myth 4: Mammograms Cause Cancer to Spread
This is a common fear, but it’s not true. Mammograms are safe, effective tools that use very low doses of radiation to detect cancer early—long before symptoms appear. At Danid Centre for Chronic Illness, we emphasize early detection as part of our Oncology & Palliative Care services.
Myth 5: Healthy Lifestyle Guarantees No Cancer
Eating well, exercising, and avoiding alcohol or smoking lowers risk but does not guarantee protection. Genetics and other factors still play a role. A healthy lifestyle plus regular check-ups provides the best defense.
